Program Coordinator, Center for Child and Family Policy, Sanford School of Public Policy
About the role
The Program Coordinator will play a vital part in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team supporting major Center initiatives, research activities, student programs, and operational excellence across the Center for Child and Family Policy.
Responsibilities
- Financial Management and Business Operations (35%): Coordinate and complete monthly reconciliations for Center operating accounts, prepare and submit expense reports, create and submit Accounts Payable Check Requests, use Buy@Duke for Purchase Orders, determine worker classification, process payments to research participants, and support the NC Education Research Data Center.
- Program and Project Administration (25%): Manage the Jacqueline A. Morris Fellowship, provide administrative support for the Policy+ program, assist with School Research Partnership events, maintain the manual, and provide short-term support to Center grants and research projects.
- Communications and Content Development (20%): Support the Communications Director with newsletter content, graphic design, and communications across platforms, and help maintain consistent messaging.
- Office Management and Executive Support (20%): Manage daily office operations, serve as an administrative partner, coordinate meetings and events, and handle confidential information.
Requirements
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree; 1 year of experience in program administration, OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Four years of progressively responsible experience in project management, including complex projects involving multiple functional groups.
Required Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, excellent writing, communication, organization, and attention-to-detail skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively, strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills: Experience with digital media, video editing, WordPress, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or social media, familiarity with Duke University or academic research environments, demonstrated leadership and initiative in managing complex responsibilities or projects.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree; 1 year of experience in program administration, OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Experience: Four years of progressively responsible experience in project management, including complex projects involving multiple functional groups.
