About the role

The ACLU seeks applicants for the full-time position of Program Associate in the Affiliate Support and Nationwide Initiatives Department of the ACLU’s National office in New York, NY. This is a hybrid role that has in-office requirements of two (2) days per week or eight (8) days per month.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of strategic initiatives for ACLU affiliates.
  • Collaborate with state affiliates to enhance their organizational capacity and effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the growth and sustainability of the ACLU’s network of 54 state affiliates.
  • Work on projects that strengthen the connections between the ACLU and its network of staff members.
  • Engage in efforts to build program excellence and best practices across the ACLU’s network.
  • Drive resources to key battles across the country, positioning the nationwide organization for future challenges.

Requirements

  • A strong commitment to civil liberties and civil rights.
  • Experience working with non-profit organizations or government agencies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as public policy, law, communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in project management or program development.

Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of civil liberties and civil rights issues.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting.
