Program Assistant Director of Teacher Residency
Salary
The annual salary for this position ranges from $71,200 to $74,500. The final offer will be commensurate with the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
Purpose of Position
This position serves as a liaison who bridges the gap between educator preparation programs and partner school districts while providing localized, real-time coaching, observation, and administrative support to teacher residents and their mentor teachers. The position supervises university-district site coordinators and works with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Student Success and the Director of Student Services to ensure all educator preparation programs are in compliance with state and regional accreditation requirements, including TEA and SACSCOC.
Essential Functions
- Serve as the main University Educator Preparation Program and District Liaison, which includes assisting with district MOU development; facilitating and managing governance meetings; scheduling interviews for teacher residency candidates; coordinating the placement of teacher residents in partner school districts; collaborating with ISDs to select host teachers; coordinating seminars; and resolving concerns.
- Support and mentor a small caseload of residency candidates through field observations, seminars, and course instruction.
- Recruit and oversee the work of each site coordinator and their assigned district partner (e.g., governance meetings, teacher residency interviews, coordination of teacher resident placements, selection of host teachers, and resolution of concerns).
- Recruit, select, train, and continuously support experienced mentor (host) teachers who guide the residents; conduct regular check-ins or evaluations to ensure successful co-teaching models; provide timely, actionable feedback (both verbal and written) to support a small cohort of teacher residents’ pedagogical growth.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- M.Ed. in Education or closely related field and five (5) years of experience teaching in PK-12 public schools or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Documentation of leadership/management experience.
- Texas Teaching Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Education or closely related field.
- Project management experience.
- Three years of PK-12 school leadership experience.
- Ten years of experience working in PK-12 public schools.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Candidates must have knowledge of state and national education standards (including TEA, AAQEP, and InTASC).
- Candidates must have knowledge of Texas Administrative Code, the ability to lead a team, and strong communication skills.
Work Schedule
- Monday through Friday; 8:00am through 5:00pm.
- Occasional after-hours and weekend responsibilities depending on the season, workload, and special events.
- Able to travel to different campus locations, or offsite events.
- This is a foundation grant funded position; funding will end on August 31, 2030, with the possibility to continue under a new funding source.
