Program Aide - Community Centers

About the role

Harlem Children's Zone (HCZ) seeks a Program Aide to support programming within our community centers: West Side Community Center and Geoffrey Canada Community Center.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with participants in all of their activities (i.e. arts, dance, sports, etc.)
• Assist activity specialists with participants' physical, emotional, social, moral and intellectual development
• Create and implement activities, workshops and events for youth and families based on their interests and with their involvement
• Model positive behavior
• Engage participants in dialogue (one-to-one and group discussions) around topics of concern for their age group
• Maintain the upkeep of supplies
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• A commitment to HCZ's mission and the communities we serve
• Some experience working with students, families, and/or community members
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Familiar with issues prevalent in underserved communities
• Must be able to engage and motivate participants

What You'll Do

Schedule

• On-Site (Monday-Thursday) 5PM - 9PM and Saturdays from 10AM - 3PM
• During our Summer Camp Program, the Program Aide's schedule will shift to Monday-Thursday from 1PM - 6PM

Pay

The salary range for this position is $20.00 per hour.
