Program Aide

Immediate opening, flexible hours Monday through Friday.

About the role

Assist with the care of children grade K–6 in our before- and after-school program, ensuring a safe environment for all participants.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the care of each child in the program
• Provide homework help and encourage engaging play for children without homework
• Assist with snack distribution and cleanup, teaching children to clean up their own space
• Share creative ideas with staff to enhance program excellence and benefit children
• Clean up program area as assigned, including after each project, and teach children to do the same
• Report concerns and/or medical incidents to supervisor immediately
• Help children grow and learn while having fun
• Support and affirm the Mission of The Salvation Army while on duty
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age
• Previous experience working with children is helpful
• Patient and understanding attitude working with children from various backgrounds
• Completion of required Child Protection Clearances under PA Act 153: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check
• Understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army
