About the role
Assist with the care of children grade K–6 in our before- and after-school program, ensuring a safe environment for all participants.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the care of each child in the program
- Provide homework help and encourage engaging play for children without homework
- Assist with snack distribution and cleanup, teaching children to clean up their own space
- Share creative ideas with staff to enhance program excellence and benefit children
- Clean up program area as assigned, including after each project, and teach children to do the same
- Report concerns and/or medical incidents to supervisor immediately
- Help children grow and learn while having fun
- Support and affirm the Mission of The Salvation Army while on duty
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Previous experience working with children is helpful
- Patient and understanding attitude working with children from various backgrounds
- Completion of required Child Protection Clearances under PA Act 153: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check
- Understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army
