Professor Radiologic Technology (10 Month Faculty)

About the Role

To educate students in Radiologic Technology and provide leadership in the development and implementation of departmental and institutional activities that advance the mission of NHTI, Concord’s Community College. This position reports to the Diagnostic Medical Imaging Department Chair.

Responsibilities

• Teaches an assigned academic course schedule in radiologic technology and related courses in classroom, clinic, or laboratory settings, and supervises educational activities of students under actual or simulated situations.
• Prepares instructional plans based on occupational analyses to reflect changes in the assigned field.
• Demonstrates teaching effectiveness through the development, modification, and evaluation of program curricula and instructional materials that:
  • Comply with established course content.
  • Integrate theory with applications.
  • Clearly define course goals.
  • Observe program and institutional accreditation standards.
  • Promote critical thinking and life skills.
  • Respond to diverse academic needs.
• Maintains accessibility and availability to assist students with their learning needs and advises individuals or groups of students in academic matters relevant to the academic area of specialization.
• Supervises student learning activities and academic progress, and maintains accurate records of student progress and accomplishments, consulting with and interpreting these to students.
• Assists with the selection, placement, and follow-up of students.
• Coordinates and leads departmental activities and operations by:
  • Meeting with executive and advisory groups to discuss needs, career developments, and the effectiveness of instruction.
  • Developing and evaluating credit and non-credit programs and/or courses.
  • Mentoring faculty in subject area competency and instructional expertise.
  • Actively cultivating and maintaining collaborative relationships with business and industry within the field of instruction.
  • Engaging in outreach to educational partners for the development and implementation of articulation initiatives.
• Provides leadership in the planning, development, and implementation of college-sponsored recruitment and retention activities, including career and job fairs, student orientations, registrations, award ceremonies, and advising student activity groups, as assigned.
• Engages in professional activities related to the area of teaching specialization that partner the college with the wider community, such as serving on college or system teams or participating in community-sponsored events.
• Remains technologically and pedagogically current within radiologic technology through participation in relevant professional associations and educational & training activities.
• Utilizes appropriate instructional and administrative technologies as required for teaching effectiveness and college operations/communication.
• Requisitions necessary equipment, supplies, and classroom materials with ample lead time to assure a smooth instructional program; assists colleagues in the design and maintenance of physical facilities, equipment, and resources to ensure safe and effective instruction.
• Observes all academic policies and procedures, institutional rules and regulations, and demonstrates ethical and professional behavior.
• Complies with all college, system, state, and federal rules and regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major study in Radiologic Technology or Education. Possession of a master’s degree in education requires twelve (12) graduate credits in Radiologic Technology and a bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology.
  OR
  Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major study in Radiologic Technology or Education. Possession of a bachelor’s degree in education requires an associate’s degree in radiologic technology.
• Experience:
  • For Master’s degree holders: Six (6) years of teaching experience in Radiologic Technology, two years of which must have been in the supervision of students or personnel activities or academic program administration, or six (6) years’ experience as a Radiology Technician/Radiographer, two years of which must have been in the supervision of personnel or program/project administration.
  • For Bachelor’s degree holders: Seven (7) years of teaching experience in Radiologic Technology, two years of which must have been in the supervision of students or personnel in educational activities or academic program administration, or seven (7) years’ experience as a Radiology Technician/Radiographer, two years of which must have been in the supervision of personnel or program/project administration.
• License/Certification:
  • ARRT Professional Registration.
  • ARRT Certification RTR.
  • NH State License RT.

Skills

• Thorough knowledge of teaching methods, use of instructional materials, and the organization of subject matter into effective teaching units in technology or other specialized programs.
• Complete knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques, and equipment in subjects being taught.
• Ability to evaluate student progress and provide guidance to both students and instructors.
• Ability to supervise professional instructional staff and collaborate in the development of programs, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to work with diverse student populations.
• Ability to work effectively with businesses and community organizations.
• Ability to originate and implement new programs and improve existing programs.
• Willingness to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college appointing authority.
