Professor of Veterinary Physiology

Primary responsibilities

Provide innovative education, mentorship, and guidance to all students in a variety of settings, including the classroom, laboratory, and simulation center in the discipline of physiology.

Participate in student assessment, feedback, and remediation to ensure that students meet LCSVM's high academic standards in the areas of knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Participate in curriculum development, delivery, assessment, and enhancement.

Provide service to Lyon College and the greater community by serving on committees, providing leadership, participating in community outreach events, and working with professional organizations and groups.

Maintain discipline and teaching expertise through continuing professional education.

Engage in scholarly activity, including research, authorship, presentations at conferences, teaching innovation, entrepreneurship, and mentorship of students in their scholarly activities.

Rank

Rank will be either Full, Associate, or Assistant Professor depending upon qualifications and experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the delivery of veterinary/medical education, including an understanding of the principles of andragogy and pedagogy and their application in a professional curriculum.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the area of expertise.

  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Record of successfully contributing to collaborative teams.

Qualifications

  • Terminal degree (DVM, or equivalent, or MD, and/or PhD).
  • Prior experience teaching within a veterinary or medical school.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in educational and/or professional settings.
  • Demonstrated scholarly activities in education, innovations, entrepreneurship, and/or medical research.
