Professor of Epidemiology with focus on cardiovascular diseases (PA2026/1847)

About the role
A permanent, full-time position as Professor of Epidemiology with focus on cardiovascular diseases. The position is located at the Department of Clinical Sciences in Malmö and is closely linked to the Strategic Research Area EpiHealth (SRA EpiHealth), led by Lund University in collaboration with Uppsala University. The contract cannot be renegotiated into a combined appointment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct independent research at a very high national and international level in cardiovascular epidemiology, strengthening and developing strategically important research at the Faculty of Medicine.
- Teach and develop courses at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels.
- Assume the role of research team leader at IKVM.
- Participate in administrative tasks, internal and external elected positions, and other duties associated with a professorship.
- Represent the field nationally and internationally, contribute to the development of excellence within SRA EpiHealth, and engage with society at large.

Requirements
- Eligibility for appointment as professor according to Chapter 4, Section 3 of the Higher Education Ordinance, demonstrating both scientific and pedagogical competence.
- Completion of a course in higher education pedagogy lasting at least five weeks (or completion within two years of taking up the position if valid reasons exist).
- Suitability for the position and the skills necessary to perform duties effectively.
Qualifications
Special emphasis will be placed on the following:
- Scientific competence: Current, pioneering, and independent research activities at a very high international level. Publications in international scientific journals and national/international grants obtained as principal investigator.
- Research leadership: Ability to initiate and lead national and international research collaborations, with experience in clinical research and collaboration considered advantageous.
- Pedagogical expertise: Documented experience of teaching at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels, as well as supervision of students at these levels.
- Leadership and strategic development: Demonstrated ability in academic leadership, including management roles, elected office, leadership training, or leadership in research environments, interdisciplinary projects, or consortia. Experience in an international context is an advantage.
- Communication and collaboration: Strong skills in supporting professional development, fostering a positive working environment, and engaging with researchers from different disciplines and stakeholders outside academia.
- Organizational development and external collaboration: Experience in communicating research results, translating research into society or clinical practice, and contributing to interdisciplinary research environments.
