Professor and Chair - Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Biochemistry

Responsibilities

The Department Chair oversees all areas of the department: finances, education, research, and services. This position also has responsibilities for faculty recruitment, promotion, and annual evaluation.

Expectations include maintaining a vigorous externally funded research program, providing exemplary mentorship, and contributing to the teaching mission of the department.

Successful candidates will have outstanding opportunities to develop collaborations within the department and the UT Health Science Center campus.

Qualifications

• EDUCATION: Ph.D., MD., or equivalent degree.
• EXPERIENCE: Candidates must have a sustained track record of maintaining a rigorous, independent, and federally funded research program. Experience working in a BSL3 laboratory facility is required. Previous experience in academic and/or research leadership positions is expected. (Immunology, microbiology, or host-pathogen interactions preferred. Research investigating infectious disease in BSL2 and BSL3 facilities preferred.)
