About the Role

Slalom is seeking a strategic, entrepreneurial, and execution-oriented Senior Manager, Commercial Governance & Contract Management to help establish and scale a new capability that strengthens how we manage contractual risk, commercial performance, client relationships, and delivery outcomes across our most complex engagements. The ideal candidate understands the unique commercial, contractual, procurement, compliance, and governance considerations associated with both public sector and commercial consulting engagements and can effectively adapt approaches across diverse client environments.

This role will serve as both a hands-on practitioner and capability builder, helping define how Slalom manages contractual risk, contract performance, scope governance, and revenue protection throughout the delivery lifecycle. Initially, the role will directly support complex client engagements while contributing to the development of frameworks, tools, processes, and best practices required to build a sustainable, enterprise-wide capability. Over time, this role is expected to help shape the future direction of the capability and contribute to the development of a team of commercial governance professionals.

This role sits within our Commercialization Organization and partners closely with Sales, Delivery, Finance, Operations, and Legal, serving as a trusted advisor throughout the client lifecycle—from pursuit and contract formation through delivery, expansion, renewal, and closure. The Senior Manager will help define and operationalize an approach to support delivery teams that protects revenue, improves profitability, mitigates risk, and enables scalable growth. This leader will become a recognized advocate for commercial excellence across Slalom and help shape the future growth of a dedicated Commercial Governance & Contract Management practice.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Contractual Governance During Delivery: Partner with Accountable Executives, Engagement Leads, and Delivery Leaders to provide commercial governance for Slalom's largest and most complex engagements, aligning contractual commitments, financial objectives, and delivery outcomes. Oversee contract performance throughout the engagement lifecycle by managing contractual obligations, scope governance, change control, and contract modifications while proactively resolving risks before they impact delivery or client relationships.
  • Manage Risk and Compliance: Partner with Legal, Finance, Procurement, Operations, and Delivery teams to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, client commitments, and regulatory requirements while proactively managing commercial risk across public sector and commercial engagements. Lead the resolution of complex commercial issues, disputes, and escalations by establishing governance practices that mitigate risk, strengthen compliance, and support successful delivery outcomes.
  • Protect Revenue and Improve Profitability: Partner with finance and delivery leaders to improve margin performance and commercial outcomes. Advise teams on contractual levers that can improve financial performance while maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Support Pursuits and Commercial Deal Shaping: Provide guidance on contract structures that balance client objectives, delivery flexibility, and profitability. Advise teams on commercial and contractual considerations unique to public sector, regulated industry, and commercial clients, including procurement requirements, compliance obligations, funding constraints, and governance expectations.
  • Enable Client Growth and Lifecycle Management: Support account teams in identifying opportunities for contract expansion, renewals, amendments, and follow-on work. Develop governance approaches that strengthen client confidence and improve long-term account health.
  • Build and Scale a New Capability: Help define and scale Slalom's Commercial Governance & Contract Management capability by developing its vision, role definitions, competencies and operating standards/frameworks, contract lifecycle management practices, and supporting tools. Drive adoption and continuous improvement by establishing metrics, leveraging enabling technologies, and partnering with leadership to mature the capability across markets, practices, and strategic engagements. Support future recruitment, onboarding, and capability expansion efforts.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in consulting, professional services, commercial management, contract management, delivery governance, deal management, or related disciplines.
  • Experience supporting both public sector and commercial consulting engagements, with an understanding of the differing procurement models, contract structures, compliance requirements, governance expectations, and risk profiles associated with each.
  • Experience supporting complex consulting engagements exceeding $10M in contract value.
  • Experience working within highly regulated environments, including government, healthcare, financial services, utilities, or other compliance-intensive industries, is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated success improving commercial performance, profitability, risk management, or operational effectiveness.
  • Strong understanding of Statements of Work, Master Services Agreements, change orders, pricing models, contract lifecycle management, and consulting economics.
  • Proven ability to influence leaders and drive adoption without direct authority.
  • Experience building processes, frameworks, operating models, or organizational capabilities.
  • Strong executive communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
  • Passion for building new capabilities and creating measurable business impact.
