Responsibilities
- Work cooperatively with CH coding associates, Clinicians, Outpatient Coding Managers, CDEI Education Manager and Documentation Specialists, Corporate Compliance, Ancillary departments and private clients to ensure coding is consistent, accurate, and meets data integrity for use in billing, reimbursement, clinical outcomes, and for reporting.
- Monitor accuracy and perform audits using Intelicode or other appropriate software of coded data based on documentation in the medical record and through these audits will ensure that medical records are coded and billed in accordance with coding conventions, billing rules and Federal and State regulations.
- Provide timely education and feedback for Clinicians, Coding and CDEI associates with regards to quarterly coding updates.
- Provide mentoring for new coding staff.
- Assist with the coding standardization of workflow redesign for Epic and other EHR systems.
- May be assigned coding assignments as required to meet departmental needs.
Qualifications
- CPC, COC, RHIT, CCS, or CCS-P is required
- CPMA required
- Minimum of three (3) years of multi-specialty coding experience utilizing electronic encoders following the official CPT coding guidelines using AHA Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, CMS Documentation Guidelines, Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting and other authoritative resources
