Job Responsibilities and Duties

  • Performs moderately complex tasks independently.
  • Effectively divides projects into individual tasks.
  • Led effort on small projects.
  • Conducts quality control of basic deliverables.
  • Produces field data including: clear and concise field notes, basic equipment maintenance checks, topographic data collection, monument field recovery.
  • Produces office-based tasks under limited direction/oversight from others including: basic boundary resolutions, basic construction calculations, control network planning, point cloud extractions, research of public records, basic construction layout, remote sensing data.
  • Understands and employs applicable industry or client standards such as ALTA surveys, local platting, surveying standards, ASPRS, BLM cadastral surveys, and client standards.
  • Frequent client communications, resolves issues on small projects, attends client meetings, and uses situationally appropriate communication tools.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 4 years of experience required.
  • PPLS required.
  • Valid driver’s license required for legitimate business purposes.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, use whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to create and interpret graphs and understand statistical analysis.
  • Regularly sits, talks, hears, stands, walks, uses hands, lifts/carry up to 50 pounds, and works in various weather conditions.
  • Able to cut brush using chain saw or machete, dig with shovel or digging bars, use a jack hammer and sledgehammer, and drive in stakes and rebar (monuments).
  • Able to walk and hike through rough terrain, snow, and ice.
  • Able to perform work in high-density urban and extremely remote settings.

Qualifications

Team player, able to follow on large, complex projects and lead a small team on simple tasks, anticipates the needs of other technical disciplines and takes responsibility for their results.

Produces the following independently in the field, office or both: field data including clear and concise field notes, basic equipment maintenance checks, topographic data collection, monument field recovery.

Produces the following under limited direction/oversight from others in the office: basic boundary resolutions, basic construction calculations, control network planning, point cloud extractions, research of public records, basic construction layout, remote sensing data.

Strong understanding of scopes, schedules, and budgets. Able to predict and deliver individual tasks within a set level of effort. Able to consistently meet budget and schedule expectations on projects. Assists with budget creation on simple projects.

Understands and employs applicable industry or client standards such as ALTA surveys, local platting, surveying standards, ASPRS, BLM cadastral surveys, and client standards.

Frequent client communications, resolves issues on small projects, attends client meetings, and uses situationally appropriate communication tools (e.g., email versus phone versus in person).

Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Developing Trimble Business Center, Trimble Access, CAD processing software, Point Cloud extraction software.

Substantial understanding of field surveying equipment use, care and storage.
