Position Summary & Responsibilities
The candidate must have a degree in geology, engineering, or related environmental discipline.
The candidate must have two years of supervisory experience.
Over sees and directs the operations of the Solid Waste Permits Section for successful outcomes, including to work of three units within the Section:
- Solid waste landfills;
- Solid waste processing facilities;
- Hydrogeology and groundwater monitoring.
Directly supervises the three Unit chiefs, a landfill permit engineer in Chanute.
Supervisory work includes making assignments, conducting personnel evaluations, setting performance goals, supporting staff development, training new staff, providing technical guidance to staff, communicating expectations to all section staff, and stimulating productivity.
Routine work assignments are established in consultation with unit leaders and re-evaluated and amended based upon need.
Non-routine assignments are established verbally and/or through internal memos and e-mail messages.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Performs final engineering reviews of all solid waste permits and permit modifications for completeness, professionalism, and accuracy.
- Detailed engineering and hydrogeological reviews are completed by unit leaders.
Qualifications
Education: High School, GED
Licensing & Certification: Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State
Minimum Qualifications: Two years of supervisory experience
P.E. license is required
Preferred Qualifications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access Proofreading, editing, attention to detail Environmental or Civil Engineering Experience managing an environmental permitting program Experience reviewing engineering design plans for compliance with design requirements Experience interpreting environmental regulations and providing guidance to the regulated community Strong leadership and interpersonal skills Demonstrated leadership experience in an environmental program

Compensation
Pay Range : ($45.47-$52.71)
Salary can vary depending upon education, experience, or qualifications.
