Transportation, Department of – Professional Engineer 1 (Civil/Transportation) position located in Utica, NY.
About the Role
The candidate will serve as the Assistant Regional Director of Operations (ARDO).
Responsibilities
- Supervise the Maintenance Environmental Coordinator and provide management oversight to Residency environmental efforts.
- Supervise the Regional Claims Coordinator and provide management oversight to the Regional claims, damage recovery, and FOIL effort.
- Manage the Regional Facilities Capital Improvement and Inventory Program.
- Coordinate the Preventative Maintenance Paving Program; serve as a member of the Regional Pavement Team.
- Serve as liaison to Main Office Operations Program Managers.
- Participate in the SAFETAP reviews with Traffic and Safety and track and support Residency efforts in developing corrective measures for cited deficiencies.
- Coordinate the Region’s efforts in carrying out the mission of the Emergency Transportation Operations (ETO) Program.
- Engage all Regional Groups to understand ETO and their role in ETO activities.
- Handle special assignments as determined by the Regional Director of Operations.
- Serve a role within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
Requirements
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet one of the following:
- A New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration and a qualifying bachelor's degree or higher in one of the following fields:
- Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Management, Construction Engineering Management Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Power Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Engineering Technology, Environmental Design Engineering, Environmental Resources Engineering, Environmental Systems Engineering, Forest Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Hydraulics Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning and Engineering, or Engineering Science with a recognized concentration in any of the above listed engineering degrees.
- A New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration and one year of full-time qualifying engineering experience in the design and construction of parks, roads, bridges, recreational facilities, water and/or wastewater treatment facilities.
For promotional candidates: You must have a New York State Professional Engineer's license and current registration, be a qualified employee of New York State, and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an Assistant Engineer (Civil).
Continued employment as a Professional Engineer 1 is dependent upon continued possession of a New York State Professional Engineer's license with current registration.
Pay
The starting salary is $98,298, which includes a base salary of $91,298 and a geographic pay differential of $7,000. The full salary range for this position is $98,298 to $122,252 annually.
Schedule
- Full-time, contingent permanent position.
- Workweek: Monday–Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
- Workday: 7 AM to 3 PM.
- Mandatory overtime may be required.
- No flextime, compressed workweek, or telecommuting allowed.
