Responsibilities
- Maintain Pesticide Applicator license and apply pesticides to research plants according to federal, state, local, University, and departmental laws, rules, regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain record system on pesticides applied.
- Maintain an understanding of the latest pesticide management practices.
- Conduct informational exchange for students, staff, and pesticide users as needed.
- Assist in monitoring, maintaining, and/or operating research program.
- Perform a variety of incidental tasks related to the operation of the research program as needed.
Requirements
- Experience with pesticide different pesticide application methods, including foliar sprays and infurrow applications with a C02 backpack sprayer equipped with Boom-mounted nozzles, a tractor-mounted boom with nozzles, and application via drip irrigation.
- Experience monitoring research trials and diseased plant sampling technique.
- Experience with weather monitoring equipment, including WatchDog temperature/relative humidity sensor, leaf wetness sensor, and rain gauge.
- Ability to keep detailed records and communicate effectively with academic and research staff.
