Responsibilities
- Operate automatic yard trucks to move raw material trailers to unloading bays for processing
- Remove product in a variety of ways from open top, rendispose, reefer, box, tank, and other types of trailers
- Operate skid-steers or forklifts to remove large materials from trailers, as needed
- Use a pressure washer and brush to clean out trailers, skid steers, and other equipment
- Inspect trailers for usability and notify Vehicle Maintenance Technicians if repairs are needed
- Arrange and organize empty trailers in the truck yard
- Greet contract haulers, and direct and assist them in backing up and unloading their trailers
- Complete paperwork for each unloaded trailer
- Provide break relief and serve as backup to Panel Operator, when needed
- Observe the manufacturing process and data through computer monitors to ensure product specifications are being met
- Complete paperwork regarding observations and product being produced every two hours
- Effectively communicate trailer load information with production personnel to prevent errors and inefficiencies
- Report any concerns, accidents, downtime, or cost-saving measures to Foreman, as needed
- Follow all company safety policies, practices, procedures, and improvement initiatives
- Comply with all regulatory compliance requirements including environmental and food/feed safety
- Maintain positive relationships with others and assist other production or maintenance personnel, as necessary
- Perform general housekeeping to maintain a clean work environment, as needed
- Maintain regular and predictable on-site attendance
Qualifications
- Pass in-house Forklift Certification
- Experience in backing up trailers or operating a skid steer and forklift, preferred
- Experience in food/feed production, a plus
- Understand and operate basic computer systems
- Proficient in basic math skills and reading data trends; accurately and legibly record information
- Effectively communicate in English with external truck drivers, both in writing and verbally
- Accurately read and understand signs, labels, warnings, directions, and operator manuals
- Ability to maintain composed and organized in a fast-paced environment
- Work in a facility that processes multiple species including cows, pigs, and poultry
- Willingness and ability to work extra hours as needed during the week or weekend
- Must be 18 years of age or older for insurance purposes
Physical Requirements
- Consistently push and/or pull heavy objects
- Consistently bend at the waist and/or knees
- Consistently climb trailers or ladders up to 15 feet or be elevated in scissors lifts up to 40 feet
- Stand up to 100% of the workday
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Ability to work safely in all weather conditions including extreme heat and cold
