Production worker

We are hiring Production Workers for our Pittsfield, New Hampshire manufacturing plant to perform sewing and non-sewing operations as we convert specialty cut fabric into high-quality turnout gear.

Responsibilities

• Learn and perform stitching operations using a variety of industrial single needle, double needle, and programmable machines to complete one of over 100 operations needed for turnout gear shells or liners.
• Ensure the quality of your work and support your departmental team by learning at least two additional operations.
• Operate machines for snapping, seam sealing, automated stitching, and trimming, with the ability to use and understand a ruler and measurements.

Schedule

1st Shift: 6:00 am – 3:30 pm, Monday through Thursday; 6:00 am – 2:30 pm on Friday. Overtime on Saturdays as business needs dictate. Includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch and two breaks.

Pay

Starting pay: $19.27/hour. Additional compensation may be available based on direct experience.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 months of sewing machine or stitching operation experience. If lacking minimum experience, training will be provided through our temporary agency before full-time employment.
• Able to read, write, and speak basic English.
• Pass a background check, drug screen, and pre-employment physical.
• Physical ability to:
  • Stand stationary for 8 hours.
  • Walk unassisted for a full shift.
  • Reach at or above shoulder height.
  • Perform repetitive tasks using hands, wrists, fingers, arms, and shoulders.
  • Hear noises clearly with or without hearing support assistance.
  • See fine details, small components, and tools up close (with or without vision support).
  • Good depth perception.
  • Lift and carry 1–25 pounds unassisted.
  • Assist in team lifting of approximately 30 pounds.
• Work inside and around others.
• Wear safety glasses for a full shift and/or gloves if required for the task.
• Work at a moderate pace, proficiently both individually and as a team.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively, professionally, and respectfully.
• Perform routine tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in sewing, manufacturing, machine operation, assembly, quality control, or inspection.
• High School Diploma or GED.
