Production Value Stream Manager
About the role
The Production Value Stream Manager (VSM) oversees production operations across assigned value streams and multiple shifts, ensuring alignment with production schedules, operational objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Responsibilities
Oversee production operations across assigned value streams and multiple shifts, ensuring alignment with production schedules, operational objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Directly supervise Production Supervisors and frontline leadership teams while maintaining accountability for safety, quality, productivity, and operational performance.
Manage operational risks, resolve production issues, and coordinate resources to ensure efficient workflow execution and uninterrupted production activities.
Foster a culture of accountability, employee engagement, operational excellence, and continuous improvement throughout the value stream.
Ensure all production activities comply with company policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), regulatory requirements, and workplace safety standards.
Operational Performance & KPI Management
Monitor and analyze value stream performance metrics, including throughput, labor productivity, schedule attainment, yield, waste reduction, quality performance, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
Identify operational opportunities and implement corrective actions to improve process efficiency, product quality, and overall value stream performance.
Develop and maintain operational reporting, performance dashboards, and management reviews to communicate production results and drive data-based decision making.
Implement workflow improvements and operational standards that increase efficiency while maintaining product quality, compliance, and employee safety.
Continuous Improvement
Lead Lean Manufacturing, value stream mapping, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives across assigned production areas.
Identify opportunities to eliminate waste, improve process flow, reduce costs, and increase manufacturing capacity.
Drive standardization of processes, best practices, and performance expectations throughout the value stream.
Partner with Maintenance, Engineering, and Automation teams to improve equipment reliability, process performance, and operational effectiveness.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate closely with Quality, Compliance, Supply Chain, Packaging, Warehouse, and Distribution teams to achieve production objectives and customer requirements.
Support production planning activities by ensuring labor, equipment, materials, and operational resources are aligned with business demands.
Partner with Quality and Compliance teams to address findings, corrective actions, and continuous improvement opportunities.
Communicate operational priorities, risks, performance results, and resource needs to plant leadership and key stakeholders.
Workplace Safety & Compliance
Maintain a safe work environment through active leadership, coaching, auditing, and enforcement of safety policies and procedures.
Ensure adherence to GMP, sanitation, PPE, security, and cannabis regulatory requirements.
Review incident trends and implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce safety risks and strengthen operational compliance.
