About the Role
Responsible for all activities associated with safely operating production machines including setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to operations to meet customer demand.
Responsibilities
- Work safely at all times, be aware of surroundings, and understand and comply with Pratt Industries Safety rules, operating procedures, and help hold co-workers responsible for safety-related items.
- Participate in Plant Safety Committee.
- Follow at all times GMPs (Good Manufacturing Processes).
- Learn and comply with Pratt Industries quality procedures and policies; stop bad quality from leaving the facility to the customer by catching issues on the front end of manufacturing.
- Maintain strong attention to detail to prevent poor quality from being sent to the customer.
- Perform a variety of tasks in the assigned department; may work in multiple areas of the plant during the week on varied projects and customer orders.
- Perform general duties and responsibilities as required, including housekeeping and cleaning of work areas to keep them free of tripping hazards during and at the end of shifts.
- Maintain good housekeeping in shared areas such as break rooms, bathrooms, and refrigerators.
- Learn and understand machine capabilities and capacities from Machine Operators to assist with driving efficiencies, limiting waste, and minimizing downtime without sacrificing quality.
- Learn job duties on machines, including downtime, setup times, and quality from Machine Operators and Production Supervisors.
- Cross-train on other machines and learn other positions in the plant.
- Assist with completing necessary reports accurately and timely, including Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, and Quality Data.
- Switch duties with co-workers as necessary.
- Adhere to the production schedule and work overtime as necessary, sometimes on short notice, to support 24/7 customer service, including holidays when required.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
- Additional duties may be assigned by management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Prior work experience in the packaging industry (paper, plastics, converting) is preferred.
- 6 months’ experience in some type of manufacturing operation is preferred.
