About the role
The Production Trainer assists with in-class and on-the-job training for production employees, focusing on the safe and efficient operation of machinery, tools, and manufacturing processes. This hands-on role uses TWI (Training Within Industry) methodology to ensure team members perform tasks with precision, meet quality and production standards, and adhere to safety protocols. The position involves training newly hired employees, retraining existing staff, and maintaining training documents and records. Time is spent on the manufacturing floor, requiring standing for long periods to train, observe, and participate in production line processes.
Responsibilities
- Train team members on area-specific standards to ensure precision, quality, and safety compliance.
- Conduct and oversee training for newly hired employees.
- Update and retrain employees as needed, documenting Skills Matrices and databases.
- Collaborate with automation teams, engineers, and supervisors to maintain current knowledge of production lines.
- Develop practical and interactive training content for existing and new programs alongside the training supervisor and partners.
- Maintain the training Matrix database.
- Research and resolve issues related to training techniques.
- Drive training initiatives independently or within a team.
- Analyze processes and data to determine training needs and develop materials.
- Provide training reports and track progress of training or related projects.
- Adhere to the Train the Trainer program and TWI (Training Within Industry) methodology.
- Foster a culture of Continuous Improvement.
- Develop and monitor trainees during practical exercises, offering immediate feedback to correct techniques and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Collaborate with production supervisors to identify skill gaps and tailor training to address operational needs.
- Maintain training equipment and ensure it is in safe working condition for instructional use.
Requirements
- Understanding of the manufacturing environment and running production lines.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to train and develop team members through classroom and hands-on instruction to improve performance and process times.
- Strong communication, public speaking, and organizational skills.
- Strategic, analytical, and creative thinker with the ability to generate new ideas and approaches to problems.
- Strong work ethic and ability to learn and gather information quickly.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of LMS and training systems.
- Experience in the training field.
- Ability to give and receive constructive criticism related to machinery and work practices.
- Ability to collect data for daily reporting to upper-level management.
- High school diploma or GED.
Pay
Starting pay rate: $28.14 per hour.
