Production Test Technician
Crane Aerospace & Electronics supplies critical systems and components to the aerospace and defense markets. Today, we have over 150,000 fuel and lubrication pumps in service and offer custom thermal management system solutions for next-generation applications.
About the role
Hours: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM, 1st shift
Responsibilities
- Perform all operations necessary for the testing of the product.
- Perform commercial test including set-up and run test equipment on various pumps, valves, motors, etc. per test procedures.
- Work with Engineering on the set-up of new production pumps and assist as assigned on testing of development units.
- Enter necessary data into electronic measuring equipment.
- Make hoses as necessary.
- Advise supervision of any measuring equipment in need of calibration.
- Perform minor deburr work as required.
- Clean and move parts as necessary.
- Pass an annual eye exam.
- Responsible for product verification and process control including using measuring devices.
- Keep charts and records as required on completed sequences and processes.
- Rotate to different workstations within the cell.
- Perform required rework, secondary operations, routine maintenance per Appendix A, and appropriate safety checks in the cell.
- Document all non-conformances through specified data collection procedures.
- Inspect work and verify that product meets all appropriate standards at each operational step in the cell.
- Complete all required paperwork.
- Ensure all material is properly cleaned, identified, protected, and stacked before movement.
- Work with internal and external customers and suppliers and participate in continuous improvement activities as required.
- Complete documentation including but not limited to operator inspection records, job routers, NCR’s, reject tags, move tickets, and stock tickets.
- Perform other duties as assigned by department supervisor.
- Utilize the computer to access various databases.
Requirements
- High School Diploma.
- Prior test experience preferred.
- Mechanical Knowledge or Machining experience in auto body or machine shop highly preferred.
- Experience with micrometers, calipers, and height gauges is a plus.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages).
- Must be a US Person (under ITAR rules) to be eligible.
- Adequate mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, detail sheets, test procedures, manufacturing outlines, and written instructions.
Working Conditions
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, lifting, and stretching.
- Lifting parts, fixtures, and containers up to 50 pounds up to a height of 3 feet.
- Working with assorted hand tools in close quarters and awkward positions with firm grip.
- Operating manual arbor press with pulling force up to 200 pounds.
- Lifting parts and fixtures weighing up to 70 pounds and carrying load 3 feet.
- Manufacturing shop floor environment with greasy, oily conditions.
- High noise levels in some test conditions.
- Exposure to paint, solvent, adhesive vapors, and oil mist.
- High-temperature equipment, piping, and ovens.
- Occasional requirement to wear a half-facepiece respirator.
Pay
Hourly pay: $34.47
