Production Technician (Lumberton)

About the Role

As an IFG Production Technician, you will work in a wide variety of manufacturing functions. This opportunity is ideal for individuals with a strong passion to learn and develop new skills while exploring the different career paths IFG can provide. We heavily focus on cross-training, allowing you to quickly gain skills and advance through levels (1–5) within the established Production Technician Skills Matrix.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a machine operator for a wide variety of functions, machinery, and workstations to gain skills and advance.
• Learn the safe and efficient operation of each assigned machine.
• Use mobile equipment to transfer waste and other materials to designated areas.
• Use hand tools (e.g., rake, shovel, broom, pike pole) to maneuver logs/lumber and clean areas.
• Use an air hose to clean machines free of dust and debris.
• Safely use chainsaws or other power tools when needed.
• Keep working areas clean at all times and clean up during downtime.
• Comprehend and perform duties in accordance with rules, regulations, and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for specific machine centers.
• Maintain a consistent production-level work pace.
• Perform other duties as needed or assigned.

Requirements

• Willing to work various shifts, including days, nights, and weekends.
• Ability to move safely and quickly, performing duties with repetitious movement.
• Sit and/or stand for shifts, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, twist, push, pull, maintain balance, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distances, and climb stairs.
• Repetitive use of hands for grasping controls, tools, and lumber.
• Frequently lift up to 25 lbs, occasionally lift up to 75 lbs, and rarely lift up to 100 lbs.
• Tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, vibrations, and airborne particles (e.g., sawdust).

Preferred Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s License.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift.
• Previous manufacturing/machine operator experience.
