Production Technician II- 1st Shift

Primary Purpose Of Position

Absenteeism is not tolerated. Under supervision responsible for the safe production and quality of Frozen Fruit through the operation, maintenance and sanitation of food production and packaging equipment. May perform the following tasks including lifting, stacking, dumping, pushing and pulling of frozen fruit boxes. Adhere to all GMP, HACCP, safety, regulatory, and company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Follow all company Safety Rules and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and adhere to JSA guidelines.
• Follow all SOP’s (standard operating procedures) for the operation of the equipment used.
• Produce high quality products in a safe and healthful manner.
• Set up machinery ensuring all production materials are available.
• Operate and monitor equipment and replenish materials as needed.
• Follow specific machine operating procedures and make adjustments as necessary.
• Follow daily set up and/or shutdown procedures.
• Maintain accurate production records.
• Make adjustments to check weighers, metal detectors and codes as required.
• Expected to achieve established performance standards.
• Maintain appropriate level of raw materials as required, to ensure production lines incur minimal down time.
• Work in all areas of production and packaging, as assigned, which includes operating, being in close proximity to and crossing over or under machinery.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and interpret documents such as box markings, labels, schedules, safety rules, GMP’s and general instructions.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of manufacturing process and equipment.
• Previous operating experience preferred.
• Ability to work in a high paced environment.
• Reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Ability to operate manual and motorized pallet jack and walkie stacker.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand for 8+ hours on concrete and/or metal grating.
• Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 60 lbs. on frequent basis.
• Must be able to bend/stoop/squat/twist, kneel and turn throughout workday for varying lengths of time.
• Must be able to reach with hands and arms below shoulder level to above shoulder level.
• Must be able to work in temperatures ranging from 40-47 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Must be able to squat and/or kneel and to bend on frequent basis.
• Must be able to climb stairs.
• Requires climbing, standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, lifting and other physical movements to perform job.

Education

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
