Production Technician I

About the Role

Sets up and operates automatic or semi-automatic machines and related equipment in a continuous production/processing operation. Monitors meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures, and related controls and guidelines to ensure adherence to production/process specifications. Reports any malfunctions or abnormalities and makes minor adjustments and repairs to equipment. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates production equipment to manufacture, process, and assemble various commercial products and substances.
• Uses product specifications, blueprints, diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOP) to produce products.
• Monitors output for quality and conformance to required metrics.
• Prepares and maintains required records of production activities and reports any inconsistencies or equipment issues.
• Follows established guidelines for safe material handling and protective gear.
• Studies and records time, motion, methods, and speed to improve efficiency.
• Establishes a standard production rate in performance of maintenance, production, clerical, and other worker operations.
• Troubleshoots issues related to manufacturing operations and industrial layout.

Requirements

• Attending a Vocational / Technical School or internal training program OR equivalent combination of relevant education & experience or skillset; no prior experience needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Vocational/Technical Training Degree.
• Technical training preferred.
• Technical expertise and ability to identify and seek needed information.
• Research skills and problem-solving skills.
• Machine Operation, Machine Programming, Manufacturing, Numerical Control, Precision Measurement, Quality Inspection.
• Reading Blueprints/Diagrams.
• Knowledge of Safety Policies and Procedures, Record Keeping, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

Physical Requirements

• Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
• Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
• May need to stand for long periods of time.
• Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
• May be requested to work a different shift.
• Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required.
• This position is Safety-Sensitive.
