Production Technician
We are looking for a Production Technician to join our Performance Materials team in Clemson, SC. The BASF Performance Materials business responds quickly to customer needs while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards. Operators at the Clemson Site must adapt to change safely, quickly, and efficiently.
About the role
The Operator III manufactures blended resin systems for foam applications to meet customer needs. This role works on a 3 rotating shift schedule:
- 1st Shift: 5am – 1:30pm
- 2nd Shift: 1pm – 9:30pm
- 3rd Shift: 9pm – 5:30am
Responsibilities
- Use product recipes to produce blended resin systems in multiple blend vessels, including the PSM process.
- Understand raw materials, their hazards, locations, and process equipment.
- Use interface screens to add exact quantities of chemicals, follow batch instructions, and take samples as required.
- Load drums, totes, cylinders, and tank trucks with final products.
- Unload raw materials via rail car to bulk storage, tank truck to bulk storage tank, tank truck to tote, and box vans of drums & totes.
- Follow standard operating procedures to unload and check-in raw materials for production.
- Contribute to the site’s safety culture and maintain safety and housekeeping standards in assigned plant areas.
- Master standard operating procedures and train in Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements.
- Understand hazard communication, OSHA, and DOT requirements for chemical transportation, storage, and handling.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) for all job functions.
- Become a certified forklift driver.
- Selected candidates will undergo HAZMAT training and must be clean-shaven to ensure proper respirator fit.
Requirements
- High School Diploma (2-year technical degree preferred).
- Good communication skills.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Able to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
