About the role

We are looking for a Production Technician to join our team in Freeport, TX. The Production Technician is responsible for conducting daily activities related to plant operations such as: operating compressors, pumps, reactors, heat exchangers, steam boilers, valves, tanks, pressure vessels, instrument control systems, forklifts, hoists, flare systems, scales, lab testing equipment, computers, and other associated manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities

During your shift as a Production Technician, you will handle plant operations including control flows, pressures, reactions, temperatures, makeup of solutions from batch sheets and formula cards, transfer of solutions/batches, loading/unloading chemicals to and from tanks, trucks, and rail cars. You will operate and manage (troubleshoot) your respective areas and make safe, prompt, and effective decisions. You will operate both DCS, PLC, and manual equipment, handle various hazardous chemicals, and identify and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). You will also crosstrain in additional production areas and support other members of the team in achieving a task or solving a problem.

You must demonstrate sound judgment by adhering to Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) requirements while planning and executing a job. You will support and continually apply all Quality Improvement, Safety, Ecology, and Legal Compliance policies and procedures. You will perform all necessary production/testing to ensure that product meets product specifications and tolerances for in-process product and release specifications for shipment of the product.

Requirements

  • Have a high school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • Are eligible to obtain TWIC if needed in the future
  • Due to the on-call nature of this position, you must be able to respond and be onsite within an hour

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 years of applicable military experience (with Honorable Discharge)
  • 3 years of chemical plant manufacturing experience or 1 year of BASF applicable experience
  • Associate’s degree in a Chemical Technology Program

Physical Requirements

With or without reasonable accommodation, you must have the ability to:

  • Go up and down 50 feet vertical ladders
  • Stand for an extended period
  • Have a pulling and pushing force of 100 lbs
  • Kneel, squat, crawl, bend, or transfer more than 50 lbs. with assistance
  • Climb stairs and ladders, stand, and/or walk as process demands
  • Have manual dexterity to operate board and machinery as necessary
  • Wear a respirator
