Production Technician (2nd shift)

About the role

BarrMax is in search of a 2nd shift Production Technician to join our team at our new facility in the Innovation Business Park. The position involves operating equipment to manufacture BarrMax tape, promoting a safe environment, and assisting in training new employees.

Responsibilities

• Operates all equipment related to the BarrMax tape making process
• Loading super sacs of polymer
• Loading and unloading rolls of tape
• Setting up and starting up production lines
• Making adjustments to the process based on understanding of impacts
• Maintaining cleanliness and condition of equipment and work areas
• Assisting in training new hires
• Performing preventive maintenance tasks
• Promoting a safe environment and addressing unsafe issues
• Reporting production, locating materials, and entering test results
• Using ERP software to assign materials to work orders and report non-conformances
• Package, label, and place finished products on skids and prepare shipping
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Post-secondary education in a technical field preferred
• 2+ years machine or process operator experience in a manufacturing environment
• Effective communication skills, including speaking, writing, and active listening
• Good leadership and training skills
• Ability to self-manage time and balance multiple priorities
• Excellent mechanical skills, including comfort with using tools to make simple repairs and adjustments
• Quick troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Use of measurement tools and competence working in metric
• Certain math skills, particularly as related to measurement and quantity calculations
• Computer literacy for completing tasks within ERP system, answering and sending emails, and looking up documents
• Forklift operation (preferred but not required)
