The role coordinates work activities on a daily (shift to shift) basis to meet customer delivery schedules under the direction of the Department Supervisor, performing a variety of hands-on operations in accordance with standardized processes within customer specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Production Skills (20%): Coordinate workflow through department on a daily basis to meet production schedule; ensure daily production goals are met in both quantity and quality; utilize production methods that reduce cost and increase productivity; observe and adhere to standards of performance, identify and report shortfalls to supervisor; ensure maintenance of equipment by application of TPM or other methods.
  • Leadership (30%): Uphold and demonstrate Howmet's values in approach to work, decision making and interpretations of ethical guidelines and policies for subordinates; maintain relationships with peers, subordinates, superiors, external and internal customers; promote teamwork within and between departments; accept and seek individual/self-developmental opportunities; work on assigned projects to meet department goals and objectives.
  • Communications (15%): Communicate verbally and in writing to peers, superiors, internal and external customers and suppliers; maintain communication during shift turnover through the use of turnover sheets, updated status boards or other verbal and written means; make and receive verbal and written assignments; conduct meetings with team members.
  • Operator Skills (5%): Working knowledge of all non-certified operations in department.
  • Scheduling (15%): Execute assignment instructions for work during shift to align for changes, absences, equipment downtime, or necessary overtime; coordinate scheduling needs with Shared Resources, Central Stores, Tool Room, and Maintenance.
  • Work Systems (5%): Ensure adherence to work systems to include work instructions, labor reporting, visual controls and Integrated Process Control, and audits.
  • Training (5%): Identify, evaluate, and document training; communicate needs to supervisor; train operators utilizing one-on-one training method or other techniques.
  • Safety (5%): Monitor work environment for safety issues and act to correct problems; utilize the 5S program to maintain a clean and safe workplace; follow Howmet's Safety Regulations and Work Rules Handbook along with all departmental specific safety requirements; comply with all company attendance policies and guidelines, including regular attendance and occasional overtime.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
  • Must comply with all company attendance policies and guidelines, including regular attendance and occasional overtime.

Qualifications

  • Prior manufacturing experience in a leadership role preferred.

Skills

  • Working knowledge of all non-certified operations in the department.
  • Ability to coordinate workflow, scheduling, and resources across Shared Resources, Central Stores, Tool Room, and Maintenance.
  • Effective verbal and written communication with peers, superiors, internal and external customers, and suppliers.
  • Leadership and teamwork skills, including the ability to conduct meetings and train operators one-on-one.
  • Familiarity with TPM, 5S, visual controls, and Integrated Process Control.

Pay

Anticipated Pay Range: $65K–$75K per year. Pay rates within this range are determined based on various factors including experience, education, certifications, etc.

Schedule

Monday through Thursday, 8:00 pm – 6:00 am.
