About the Role
The Team Lead’s primary responsibilities include those of the Inspection Operator Level 1 through Level 3 as needed. The Team Lead is trained and capable of maintaining day-to-day production operations within the Inspection Operator team. This role supports the Shift Supervisor and may perform duties carried out by the Shift Supervisor as required. The Team Lead reports to the Shift Supervisor and is expected to perform job responsibilities according to the company’s core values and applicable employment law best practices.
Responsibilities
- Perform Inspection Operator Level 1 and Level 2 job functions
- Act as Trainer / Inspection Operator Level 3
- Allocate labor and conduct shift meetings
- Serve as Point of Contact for Inspection Operators Level 1-2 as needed
- Perform End-of-Run (EOR) count processes, investigations, and remedies
- Conduct final inspection and containment processes
- Document decisions and perform shift reviews/inspections twice per shift
- Evaluate, update, and share accuracy of OWIs (Operator Work Instructions) and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
- Assist with updating job board layout
- Investigate and remedy inventory issues and discrepancies
- Assess IQMS schedule, assign priorities, and manipulate downtimes and data accordingly
- Demonstrate functional understanding of Supervisor roles to act as backup when needed
- Perform other responsibilities as needed to support organizational success
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Carry out responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws
- Act as Supervisor in their absence, including training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work
- Appraise performance, reward and discipline employees, and address complaints and resolve problems
Requirements
- Proficient in job functions of Inspection Operators Level 1-2
- High School Diploma or GED required
- One to three years of related experience and/or training preferred
- Training experience strongly preferred
- Manufacturing or plastics experience preferred
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Forklift Certification
- Tow Motor License
- Valid Driver’s License
- Commitment to a 24-hour team
Skills
- Ability to train others using multiple approaches and assess training effectiveness
- Proactive communication with Supervisor, Operations Manager, and partner departments regarding daily production efficiency/status
- Knowledge of current production SOPs, forms, procedures, and practices
- Ability to pull reports, assess data, and take appropriate actions
- Proficient with IQMS and scan gun navigation
- Mastery of all Inspection Operator (1), Trainer (2), and related responsibilities
- Ability to research and solve routine issues, including inventory problems
- Strong work ethic, motivation, and dependability
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight (self-directed)
- Willingness to learn and patience
- Language Skills:
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
- Write routine reports and correspondence
- Speak effectively before groups of employees or customers
- Mathematical Skills:
- Calculate figures such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Reasoning Ability:
- Solve practical problems with limited standardization
- Interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Computer Skills:
- Database and inventory software (IQMS preferred)
- Internet software
- Microsoft Office software
- Basic computer functions and skills
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand and walk
- Reach with hands and use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- May be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance
- May be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception

Pay & Schedule
- 2nd Shift: 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM, Monday – Friday
- 40 hours per week guaranteed
- Overtime opportunities available
