About the Role

The Production Supervisor is a front-line supervisory position responsible for all aspects of the printing process, ensuring high safety awareness, quality, volume, and efficiency during assigned shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and verify product quality of all orders prior to running on press and throughout the production process.
  • Review and sign-off on all job-related paperwork.
  • Support plant budgets by controlling manpower, waste, overtime, and production efficiencies.
  • Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis on issues causing downtime and waste; correct data collection and job specifications as necessary.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for new and existing employees.
  • Communicate goals and objectives, and motivate employees to achieve company standards.
  • Coach employees for performance improvement and report poor performance or policy violations to management.
  • Approve employee time in the online timekeeping system.
  • Ensure employees have the required materials and tools to perform their daily job duties.
  • Proactively participate in continuous improvement and training initiatives, including lean initiatives/events.
  • Enforce all safety procedures and policies, and ensure the safety and well-being of all associates.
  • Follow and enforce the production schedule and company policies related to employee performance, including attendance.
  • Responsible for building security during overnight or weekend shifts, including alarm setting/disarming and ensuring doors are locked.
  • Proactively communicate with Scheduling, Production Manager, and other staff regarding label/die issues or job-related information.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and machines during and after shifts.
  • Work multiple shifts, including overtime or weekend hours as required.
  • Continually improve leadership and management skills for future growth.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in press operations within a printing or packaging environment, with 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Leadership abilities to motivate a team and earn respect and trust.
  • Strong problem-solving and prioritization skills.
  • Technical troubleshooting skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experience with manufacturing ERP systems; willingness to learn new software.
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends as necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervises up to 30 people per shift.
  • Owns shift operations and production results.

Training Requirements

  • Willing to attend required training courses or sessions, both onsite and offsite, as assigned.

Physical Demands

  • Regular walking, standing, crouching, and repetitive tasks on the production floor.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds with assistance (team lift, lift jack, pallet jack).
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test and be subject to random drug screening.

Work Environment

  • Regular exposure to dust and noise in the production environment.
  • Warehouse temperatures may be influenced by outside conditions.
  • Safety glasses and safety toe shoes are highly recommended in production and warehouse areas.

Travel Requirements

Negligible travel required for this position.
