Production Supervisor (Night Shift)

About the role

This position supervises all shift associates, training and developing them in production methods and plant procedures to achieve plant and company goals for safety, quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The incumbent supports continuous improvement to meet internal and external customer requirements. In the absence of departmental supervisors, this role oversees all peripheral plant areas, including Maintenance and Shipping. During emergencies, the position leads efforts to ensure employee safety and proper communication with facility management.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coach shift associates, resolving conflicts to foster teamwork, respect, and courtesy.
• Maintain appropriate staffing levels and participate in recruiting and selection activities.
• Monitor schedules to ensure manpower is in place for the next shift.
• Direct work activities and assign tasks to meet production goals, costs, and customer requirements.
• Ensure a safe work environment through safety training, communication, and enforcement of PPE, LOTO, hearing conservation, hazard communication, and housekeeping procedures.
• Respond to safety concerns, complete incident investigations, and document them in Impact.
• Lead emergency response efforts to ensure associate and facility safety, and communicate with facility management.
• Evaluate associates, identify training needs, and provide development opportunities to meet company goals.
• Follow company disciplinary procedures for behavioral issues unresolved by training and coaching.
• Monitor and report production and downtime metrics at daily meetings, implementing corrective actions for shrinkage loss, line downtime, pattern change duration, cost controls, rework, new part startup costs, sample metrics, and customer PPM requirements.
• Participate in improvement teams (e.g., safety rep teams, Breakthrough Teams, BAPP Steering Team) to drive area improvement and encourage employee engagement.
• Support QS9000/TS16949 policies, implement corrective actions from audits, and complete Layered Process Audits.
• Communicate unresolved production and employee problems to management for escalation and corrective action.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; degree in a related field preferred.
• Minimum of five years of supervisory experience in manufacturing.
• Problem-solving, conflict resolution, and listening skills.
• Ability to utilize modern management concepts and demonstrate strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
• Experience assigning work and delegating tasks.
• Team-building skills to coach and develop associates and collaborate across departments/shifts.
• Computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Schedule

Night shift: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM, rotating schedule including Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
