About the Role
This position performs supervisory and production functions for the assigned shift, including scheduling daily machine and duty assignments, directing job functions, carrying out production requirements, overseeing equipment problems, handling employee complaints and discipline, and liaising with other departments and customers.
Responsibilities
- Schedules and directs daily production, assigns machines following a rotation schedule.
- Assigns and oversees production duties and functions on the shift.
- Assists management with production requirements.
- Ensures quality assurance measures and procedures are followed; guides and assists quality inspectors as necessary.
- Oversees training of employees, including new hires; assists with equipment, operational, and production problems.
- Enforces company policies and procedures; handles employee complaints, grievances, and disciplinary activities.
- Makes recommendations and decisions concerning probationary hires and performance problems; documents discussions with employees.
- Ensures overall safety for the shift; enforces safety practices and procedures, including hazard communications, accident reporting, and spill procedures.
- Enforces company lockout/tag-out procedures and tow motor safety; directs emergency evacuations.
- Interacts with customers as needed.
- Ensures accurate reporting of production and inventory using the ERP system (DELMIAWorks).
- Audits policies and procedures assigned to shift personnel.
- Performs other duties as assigned and directed, including cross-departmental supervisory activities.
Requirements
- Education: High school education or higher.
- Knowledge: Working knowledge of computers, Office programs, and ERP systems; strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience: At least 3 years’ experience as a supervisor in a manufacturing environment.
- Independent Judgment: Performs duties with minimal supervision; makes independent decisions regarding equipment, production, and personnel problems.
- Quality Focus: Follows regulatory, company, and departmental procedures; ensures zero-defect output and timely execution of tasks.
- Physical Exertion: Routinely lifts 15-40 lbs; requires standing, bending, twisting, stooping, climbing, and working in tight or uncomfortable positions. Must exert pressure to secure mold bolts and connections.
- Tools: Uses ratchets, knives, screwdrivers, hammers, wrenches, pry bars, molds, tow motors, overhead cranes, and various safety equipment (gloves, goggles, dust masks).
- Attendance: Must maintain regular, full-time attendance and be available for overtime, weekends, and other shifts as required.
Schedule
Second Shift (3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.), with potential overtime and weekend work as needed.
Employment Status
Hourly, non-bargaining unit, "at-will" position.
