Production Supervisor

About the Role

The Production Supervisor oversees daily manufacturing and multi-axis CNC machining operations for aerospace engine components. The role leads the shop-floor team to meet production schedules and monthly sales goals while maintaining aerospace quality standards, tight tolerances, and AS9100 compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily shop-floor activities across manufacturing departments.
  • Oversee CNC machining operations for aerospace engine components.
  • Direct, train, mentor, and hold machinists accountable.
  • Monitor employee productivity, efficiency, and utilization.
  • Ensure production schedules and sales goals are achieved.
  • Partner with Quality Control to prioritize and schedule required parts.
  • Enforce quality standards and support a zero-defect production culture.
  • Maintain OSHA safety requirements and proper handling of exotic aerospace alloys.
  • Track daily production metrics and scrap rates.
  • Maintain material traceability through the ERP system.
  • Identify and resolve production and machining issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • 8–10 years of aerospace manufacturing experience
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience over CNC machining departments
  • Aerospace manufacturing experience (must have)
  • Production Supervisor experience (must have)
  • CNC machining supervision experience
  • Multi-axis CNC machining experience
  • Experience managing/leading machinists
  • Basic blueprint reading
  • GD&T knowledge
  • Hands-on machining experience (strong plus)

Quality / Compliance

  • Strong working knowledge of AS9100
  • AS13100
  • ISO 9001
  • NADCAP special processes
  • OSHA requirements

Software

  • Microsoft Office
  • ERP/MRP systems
  • Visual 11 ERP (preferred/plus)
  • Production/data tracking tools

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate started as a machinist/CNC machinist and worked their way into supervision. Preferred career progression:

  • CNC Machinist → Lead → CNC Supervisor → Production Supervisor

The client wants someone technically strong enough to troubleshoot problems with operators, while also being capable of holding the production team accountable and working closely with Quality.
