About The Role

The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising hourly direct and indirect labor employees and all manufacturing activities within assigned areas. This role ensures the efficient and economical use of available resources consistent with standard work procedures, work instructions, quality standards, and safety parameters. The position reports directly to the Napoleon Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate continuous improvement by leading the attainment of shop-floor Business Operating System (BOS) metrics to support the plant’s annual goals.
  • Promote and enforce environmental, health, and safety regulations, maintaining a clean, orderly, and organized floor in compliance with the 5-S Process to reduce on-the-job injuries and the Total Event Rate (TER).
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise the activities of assigned personnel to efficiently and productively meet production schedules and hold employees accountable for their performance.
  • Utilize available resources to meet customers’ needs and established quality standards.
  • Administer and enforce Company policies and plant rules, issuing discipline as appropriate in coordination with the Human Resources Manager.
  • Ensure effective employee/labor relations in a union environment, treating employees with dignity and respect, and handling first-step grievances in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Continuously monitor equipment and coordinate operational issues with Maintenance to ensure optimal machine up-time and minimal downtime.
  • Remain vigilant for TVM opportunities and cost-reduction ideas, implementing worthwhile actions in a timely manner.
  • Participate in all applicable elements of the ISO 14001 and TS 16949 standards to ensure the plant is prepared for internal and external audits.
  • Coordinate production schedules with Production Planning to ensure 100% on-time deliveries to customers.
  • Administer labor cards daily.
  • Immediately report workplace illnesses and injuries to Human Resources.
  • Understand roles and responsibilities during an emergency and take control to protect property, personnel, and equipment.
  • Work across boundaries to improve business, empower people to grow, and promote collaboration and teamwork.
  • Anticipate and take proactive action to meet customer needs, continually seeking ways to increase customer satisfaction.
  • Work effectively under stressful conditions, adjust to multiple and conflicting demands, and demonstrate resilience under ambiguous and changing circumstances.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, tailoring messages to the audience, promoting a free flow of information, and listening actively.
  • Gather relevant information systematically, consider broad issues, grasp complexities, and perceive relationships among problems.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the profession, functional area, and industry, utilizing cross-disciplinary knowledge in evaluating issues.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; college degree preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing supervision or related activity.
  • Sound communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer software, including Word, Excel, Access, and Lotus Notes.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work any shift and/or split shifts.
