About the role

As a Production Supervisor, you will coordinate activities of the production department in processing materials or manufacturing products. You will train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; and resolve problems. You will report to the Production Manager and work at our Portland, TN plant.

Responsibilities

  • Manage production lines to meet safety, quality, and productivity goals
  • Manage labor and line density to achieve financial goals of the line
  • Ensure daily customer production demands are met and communicated to customers
  • Ensure all dispositions are completed with product on a daily/shift basis
  • Prepare and maintain all production reports for the Production Manager
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve with other team members
  • Train, discipline, and evaluate 12–15 direct reports
  • Schedule the pick-up and delivery of parts with customers
  • Analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and other operational production problems and correct or recommend corrections in a timely manner
  • Verify that all MITS transactions are accurate and complete and that all process card parameters are met
  • Maintain and update visual production tracker boards and review daily with team members
  • Coordinate daily with Quality, Maintenance, and all other functional areas to ensure adequate information flow
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with OSHA and Environmental regulations
  • Train line leaders in safety and accident investigation
  • Confer with department heads regarding accident rates and recommend and implement measures to improve safety records
  • Conduct all necessary safety, environmental, WWT, and 5(S) audits
  • Ensure data is entered into the Metrics Tracking system
  • Train, evaluate, and coordinate with Human Resources on continuous development of staff
  • Perform performance reviews, provide feedback to subordinates, resolve personnel grievances, and recommend corrective actions
  • Determine staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments
  • Follow and maintain all proper safety procedures and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
  • Relieve employees during breaks, lunches, and as needed in various job positions
  • Understand emergency response procedures
  • Participate in programs to enhance safety and environmental performance
  • Understand the significant environmental impacts of work activities and the consequences of departing from specified work instructions
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Production Manager

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree preferred, but not required
  • One to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
