About the role

The Production Supervisor is entrusted with serving Frontline Team Members and delivering the daily operational commitments of Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Cost for their area of responsibility. As a Production Supervisor, you will provide exceptional leadership and service to Frontline Team Members by fostering an environment of excellence in key metrics and developing team members to meet customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Safety: Champion a zero-injury culture by proactively working with the Frontline Team to identify and deliver solutions to eliminate risks. Hold all Team Members accountable to facility safety practices and policies, including wearing appropriate PPE and following LOTO procedures.
  • Frontline Obsession:
    • Lead, inspire, and mentor Frontline Team Members to understand the mission of Porex and connect how their work makes the world safer, healthier, and more productive.
    • Serve the Frontline Team by seeking feedback on process challenges and improvements, ensuring everyone has the tools and resources needed to meet goals.
    • Communicate openly and transparently with all Team Members to ensure understanding and gather feedback.
    • Coach and develop Team Members to improve daily and grow their careers with Porex.
    • Maintain a culture of winning by recognizing Team Members who go above and beyond.
    • Set and uphold high standards of excellence, holding Team Members accountable and correcting problems as they arise.
  • Daily Management:
    • Own the execution of the business plan to deliver daily Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives for your shift and Value Stream.
    • Understand operational metrics and act quickly to address any deviations from the plan.
    • Ensure Team Members are trained to effectively perform their job tasks.
  • Lean and Continuous Improvement:
    • Monitor production processes to identify areas for improvement and partner with support groups to implement changes.
    • Ensure resources, equipment, and materials are effectively utilized to minimize waste and downtime.
    • Lead or participate in lean manufacturing initiatives to increase productivity and reduce waste.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • At least 5 years of operations experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment; 10 or more years preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience directly or indirectly leading frontline team members in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated success improving operational performance through Lean Manufacturing methodologies, Daily Management practices, and related continuous-improvement tools.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment preferred.
