About the Role

This position serves as the primary contact on the production floor, overseeing departmental activities and ensuring smooth operations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all work is performed safely by following safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain awareness of production workflow at all times.
  • Keep the production work schedule current and ensure adherence.
  • Verify that paperwork, materials, and personnel are available daily to meet production goals.
  • Coordinate production activities to optimize equipment utilization, including overtime and weekend work.
  • Communicate effectively during daily meetings.
  • Conduct performance reviews for hourly employees on the assigned shift.
  • Audit, review, and reconcile production paperwork as needed.
  • Monitor, correct, and update the ADP time clock for payroll processing.
  • Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) annually with departmental operators.
  • Address ISO internal/external audit findings promptly.
  • Prepare for and report on issues or ship dates during monthly Production meetings.
  • Control and revise department forms as necessary.
  • Actively participate in all types of meetings.
  • Cover production departments during personnel absences (vacation, illness).
  • Document and report personnel issues to the Operations Manager.
  • Investigate root causes of defective and rejected materials.
  • Ensure proper identification of all products: raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Technology & Development teams to resolve production issues beyond Production Management’s scope.
  • Participate in the Company Continuous Improvement Program (CIP).
  • Engage in the Company ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; college degree or some college recommended.
  • Minimum five years of manufacturing experience in a leadership role.
  • Formal education in an industry-related area is desirable but not required.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal communication, customer service, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English.
  • Ability to perform general and algebraic math, using analytical skills and computer applications.
  • Experience with personal computers and software (MS Office: word processing, spreadsheets, email).
  • Physical ability to:
    • Hear, see, and smell.
    • Communicate effectively.
    • Engage in repetitive hand and wrist motions.
    • Perform lateral movements, bending, twisting, and climbing stairs.
    • Stand/walk for 90% of the workday and sit for 10%.
    • Lift 5–20 pounds for 25–75% of the time; occasionally lift up to 85 pounds with assistance.
