About the role

Working as a critical leader within a production team, you will support the achievement of set production targets and customer expectations by providing leadership, supervision, and training/development to your shift and/or department. You will oversee equipment, systems, resources, and facilities to ensure safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, supervision, and training/development to team members within your shift and/or department.
  • Oversee equipment, systems, resources, and facilities under your control.
  • Communicate and monitor department targets, including production, safety, quality, cost control, and operational excellence (KPIs).
  • Provide instruction and counsel to employees when expectations are not met and recognize achievements when expectations are exceeded.
  • Establish work schedules, manage planned and unplanned employee levels, and provide hands-on coverage as needed.
  • Request appropriate levels of support, supplies, and materials, and utilize manufacturing resource planning (MRP) systems to communicate production data.
  • Act as a liaison to other departments/shifts to ensure proper transfer of information regarding production status and key performance areas.
  • Build effective relationships and communication channels with production management, maintenance, supply chain, EH&S, and HR.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environment, and health processes and procedures, including wearing and maintaining required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent, plus a 2-year technical/associate degree or certification with at least 1 year of experience in a lead, project manager, or supervisory role. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree in science, production management, business management, and/or engineering with relevant work experience in a fast-paced, heavy materials, system-controlled, machine-driven environment is preferred.
  • High level of self-motivation, coaching ability, and the agility to maintain team motivation to meet or exceed performance expectations.
  • Ability to identify cause-and-effect relationships, determine patterns, and anticipate operational changes.
  • Proficiency in basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and calculating percentages) with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Fluent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Strong communication skills to present situations and advocate positions effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to read, write, interpret instructions, and follow standard operating procedures.
  • Proficiency in software programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and business-specific resource planning and reporting systems.
  • Ability to safely use and maintain assigned PPE, including fit-tested respirators, steel-toed shoes, safety eyewear, and hearing protection.

Schedule

  • Onsite in Springfield, MO.
  • Dayshift: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
