About the role
The 1st Shift Production Supervisor is responsible for leading, coaching, and developing an operational team to ensure goals related to safety, cost, quality, inventory, and services are met. This role drives continuous improvement efforts using operational principles to optimize daily performance and draw actionable insights for operational needs. This position is 100% on-site, based in Liverpool, NY (Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM with the ability to occasionally work overtime).
Responsibilities
- Directly supervise, monitor, and coach site operational team members (managing teams in the 5 to 20 direct report range), altering schedules to optimize available capacity, labor, tools, and equipment.
- Design and implement operations improvement strategies for safety, cost, quality, training, inventory, and services while leading 5S activities, housekeeping, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Perform general management duties, exercising standard authority regarding staff development, performance appraisals, annual goals, timekeeping, attendance, and adherence to organizational policies and Code of Business Ethics and Values.
- Oversee daily warehouse and operational workflows, including shipping, receiving, loading/unloading, inventory reporting, and determining storage and space requirements to meet customer needs.
- Lead safety initiatives, monthly safety meetings, and daily safety huddles while driving root cause analysis, acting as a team role model and change-agent, and collaborating cross-functionally to reduce downtime and process complexity.
Qualifications
- High School degree required; Bachelor's degree in an applicable field (such as Engineering) preferred.
- 5+ years of operational experience with first-line supervisory or team leadership experience preferred, specifically managing teams in the 5 to 20 direct report range.
- Demonstrated experience in scheduling, planning, budgeting, control, and analyzing operational data for daily performance needs and continuous improvement.
- Strong ability to manage, coach, and develop a diverse team of individuals while cultivating appropriate group values, norms, and behaviors.
- Strong sense of urgency with proven troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis skills to reduce downtime, alongside effective cross-functional collaboration.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $68,400 - $78,000 / year.
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM with the ability to occasionally work overtime.
