Production Supervisor

About the role

The Production Supervisor II (Team Leader) position at Ashland BDO in Lima, Ohio is a significant role within the Company and the Operations function. This position reports to the Operations Manager and involves leading a team of 3-4 operating specialists on a rotating shift basis to manufacture and ship butanediol.

Responsibilities

• Directs and leads a salaried non-exempt work team of 3-4 operating specialists on a rotating shift basis to manufacture and ship butanediol.
• Develops the work force including training, needs assessment, team building, performance coaching, and job assignments.
• Operates the plant DCS and performs field tasks as part of the Operations Team.
• Accountable for the completion of routine operations duties and adherence to operating guidelines and daily operations orders.
• Ensures proper communication and coordination with other key groups such as distribution, maintenance, and engineering that interface with the Operation Team.
• Ensures proactive efforts to avoid incidents and injuries, and maintains a safe workplace.
• Responsible for maintaining PSM compliance and ensuring proper environmental operations.
• Led response activities during plant emergencies.
• Communicates and documents shift handovers and may communicate business needs and requirements to the Operating Team.
• Troubleshoots and performs preliminary diagnostics of plant mechanical problems.

Requirements

• High School Graduate minimum.
• Minimum 5 years experience in a petrochemical environment, capable of leading others.
• Demonstrated responsible and ethical behavior.
• Ability to help the company drive greater value through understanding the business, making complex decisions, and creating the new and different.
