About the role

The production supervisor position is responsible for supervising manufacturing employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective employee relations. Provide employee coaching and development. Make employment decisions. Resolve employee issues through problem resolution
  • Balance safety, quality, productivity, cost, and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Work to continuously improve in all areas
  • Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports to manager
  • Manage department priorities
  • Maintain proper inventory levels
  • Track absenteeism and timekeeping
  • Document and track training
  • Monitor and maintain a safe work environment
  • Good computer skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Prepare for and participate in weekly production meetings to expedite any problems that may negatively impact production goals and schedules
  • Drive continuous improvement events and initiatives, using continuous improvement manufacturing concepts, to remove waste and variation from production processes

Work Environment

This job operates in a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts and equipment. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to stand and walk frequently throughout their shift. They will use hands and fingers; handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Work hours are Monday through Friday and shift start times are determined by your department manager. Overtime and frequent Saturdays will be required as needed.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma plus 5-7 years of manufacturing/production experience, or 3-5 years in a manufacturing/production leadership (lead or supervisor) role

Preferred Education and Experience

  • BA or BS preferred
  • 2-3 years as a supervisor in a manufacturing/production environment
  • Continuous Improvement (LEAN, SIX SIGMA, TPM, WCOM, etc…) Experience or certification
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Experience working with sewing machines and sewing processes
  • Experience in reading, interpreting and building product in accordance with engineering blueprints
