Production Supervisor

About the role

Directly supervise and coordinate the activities of production and operating workers, including inspectors, precision workers, machine setters and operators, assemblers, fabricators, and plant and system operators.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and instruct production workers
• Inspect manufactured parts and schedule work to meet production requirements
• Coordinate and assist in troubleshooting production issues
• Maintain employee work records and monitor process capabilities using SPC and manual charts
• Train employees on equipment operations, work procedures, and safety protocols
• Maintain scrap, production, and labor reports
• Calculate labor, equipment requirements, and production specifications using standard formulas
• Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances
• Determine standards, budgets, production goals, and rates based on company policies and workloads
• Direct and coordinate activities of employees engaged in production or processing
• Enforce safety and sanitation regulations
• Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions
• Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies for workers
• Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet goals
• Recommend or execute personnel actions such as hirings, evaluations, and promotions
• Read and analyze charts, work orders, and production schedules to determine requirements
• Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and improve production methods
• Requisition materials, supplies, equipment parts, or repair services

Requirements

• Knowledge of supervising union employees
• Knowledge of company quality systems
• Knowledge of ferrous manufacturing processes and practices
• Problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of tools, dies, fixtures, gauges, machine repairs, and costs
• U.S. Citizenship is required
