About the role
As a 2nd Shift Production Supervisor, you will be the first line leader supporting team members within your area/zone. You will coordinate day-to-day activities to maintain scheduled production requirements and ensure your team's success.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a core value of respectful treatment of all team members in every discussion, interaction, and decision.
- Create an environment that empowers team members and drives continuous improvement in a team-focused setting, prioritizing safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts to eliminate waste and develop team member skills to improve lean operations.
- Provide support, coaching, and training to team leaders under your supervision.
- Ensure team leaders are properly trained within 12 months.
- Ensure team members are properly trained by their team leader or designated trainer in safety, quality, equipment operation, and 5S.
- Track team member progress on the team member training matrix.
- Establish annual goals and objectives that support the attainment of operating metrics.
- Serve as the first point of contact for employees regarding employee relations issues.
- Interface with union stewards on contract and discipline issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A minimum of 1 to 3 years of supervisory experience in a medium/high volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Manufacturing Engineering or Operations background is preferred.
- Proven history of leading with a servant leadership mindset.
- Previous professional, internship, or co-op experience will be considered as relevant experience.
Skills
- Self-driven and ambitious with proven leadership capabilities, including coaching, mentoring, and supervision within a team environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
- Strong problem-solving skills, including encouraging proactive thinking and solution creation within your team.
- Basic understanding of process control, production scheduling, Kaizen, Kanban, and Lean manufacturing is preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Stooping, bending, and standing for long periods of time.
- Manual dexterity and ability to lift up to 50 lbs without assistance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in Fabrication, Metal Stamping, Machining, or Welding.
