Production Supervisor (3rd Shift)
About the Role
Responsibility for leading the operation of one or more plant value streams. Implements the Parker Lean system and Win Strategy under the direction of the Value Stream Manager to ensure a safe work environment, drive quality improvements, provide premier customer service, develop a qualified workforce, reduce operating costs, inventories, and lead times through continuous improvements. Oversees day-to-day activities to meet daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual expectations.
Responsibilities
- Meet with Value Stream associates regularly to reflect on problems, solutions, and challenges, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Lead the plant value stream(s) in daily operations and continuous improvements, including supply chain, production control, manufacturing priorities, and coordination between all shifts.
- Assist the Value Stream Manager in creating continuous product flow, utilizing pull systems, and leveling the workload.
- Ensure standardized work and processes are followed, needed adjustments are implemented, and the area complies with safety and 5S requirements to create a basis for continuous improvement and employee empowerment.
- Maintain a positive team atmosphere; hold regular team meetings, assign tasks, and coordinate support activities from outside departments.
- Utilize PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) in conjunction with Tracking Centers and Team Improvement Boards to ensure results.
- Provide effective cross-training for Value Stream associates and backups to ensure smooth operation.
- Encourage the team to stop and fix problems to achieve quality the first time.
- Work with the Value Stream Manager to develop the future state value stream map and manage plans to achieve it as documented in the Value Stream Tracking Center.
- Maintain Team Improvement Boards with the Group Leader and Value Stream Team to develop a visually controlled environment where no problems are hidden.
- Develop and lead associates, including making employment decisions and conducting performance assessments for the assigned plant value stream(s).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of management or supervisory experience.
- Sufficient background in accounting, PC skills, manufacturing, human resource management, and inventory control.
- Demonstrated teamwork and teambuilding skills.
- Ability to assess and develop individual and team skills and capabilities.
- Ability to create and maintain enthusiasm for challenges.
- Serve as a model by promoting safety, new ideas, and positive change.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with LEAN teams or leading LEAN teams.
