About the Role
The Production Supervisor leads and develops production employees in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. This role focuses on creating a safe, organized, and efficient workplace by applying Lean Manufacturing principles and driving operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Train and develop new employees to ensure a skilled and engaged workforce.
- Improve departmental productivity and eliminate production disruptions and constraints.
- Conduct daily audits and lead root cause problem-solving efforts to maintain high-quality production.
- Ensure the team consistently manufactures high-quality products while meeting customer expectations for safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery.
- Take responsibility for workplace safety, including conducting safety audits, training employees on safe production techniques, and performing accident investigations.
- Conduct monthly safety training topics and improve working conditions.
- Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls and standard work, and provide regular progress reports to the Production Manager.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers (ME’s) to implement root cause problem-solving for production issues.
- Build and maintain cohesive and productive teams while maintaining professionalism in all interactions.
- Promote workplace organization and cleanliness, with a focus on 5S principles.
- Ensure daily audits are completed, quality procedures are followed, and all documentation is accurate.
- Maintain up-to-date Team Board information and use it for performance improvement, including leading daily team huddles.
- Develop Production Coordinators to become effective shop floor leaders.
Requirements
- A 4-year technical or business degree is preferred.
- Safety-conscious with a strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, including auditing, standard work, root cause problem-solving, and 5S.
- Strong communication skills, capable of engaging with employees at all levels within the company.
- Ability to recognize production disruptions and adjust processes to minimize schedule impact.
- Working knowledge of Epicor and strong computer skills.
- Enthusiastic, cooperative, and positive behavior.
