Production Supervisor - 3rd Shift

About the role
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for directing all shift personnel assigned to his/her shift, including providing direction to work teams, maintaining a safe work environment, and ensuring personnel have successfully completed all required training. This position is responsible for achieving or exceeding expected performance levels in safety, quality, delivery, and productivity. The Supervisor oversees materials handling, production planning and control, manufacturing, packaging, inventory control, and shipping, as well as equipment and plant maintenance. This role fosters a culture aligned with the Company’s Core Values and participates in strategic direction, budget processes, and operational goal-setting as part of the plant’s senior management team.
Responsibilities
- Supervise Packaging, Assembly, DC, and Component manufacturing team members who assemble, package, label, set up, and operate custom automated equipment for high-volume stainless/carbon steel worm gear clamps.
- Ensure daily production schedules are met while maintaining safety, environmental, quality, and cost objectives.
- Lead employee functions including selection, hiring, development, performance reviews, and creating development plans.
- Manage training of personnel, including sponsor certifications and hands-on training, and serve as a mentor.
- Ensure compliance with the Quality System and Environmental Management System.
- Direct work teams to meet published schedules and participate in hiring, promotion, discipline, and discharge decisions.
- Maintain a consistently safe work environment and hold employees accountable for safety, environmental, quality, and quantity standards.
- Interpret MRP reports to plan, organize, and schedule daily high-volume production requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner.
- Ensure efficient coordination and processing of high-volume work orders and collaborate with support functions.
- Lead continuous improvement activities, including lean manufacturing tools and automated inspection requirements.
- Improve operating efficiencies, reduce costs, and address downtime, safety, and quality issues.
- Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
- Understand the process for containing nonconforming product and completing a RID.
Requirements
- A relevant business or engineering degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of ERP systems, including bill of materials, work order management, and inventory control.
- Strong computer skills and Microsoft Office experience (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Proven track record of improving overall efficiencies, reducing costs, and leading teams.
- Knowledge of lean techniques may be advantageous.
- Proven management skills with the ability to optimize team performance.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and competing priorities; confident, self-starter, and change agent.
