About the Role
Supervises the daily activities in all assigned areas of production. Ensures proper safety, quality, and production requirements and expectations are met. Provides leadership and coaching to employees and drives/supports efforts for continuous improvement.
Capabilities
- Stamping: Hot and conventional stamping (100–800 tons), automotive & industrial metals, multi-location facilities for high-volume production
- Laser Cutting: Multi-axis laser systems for prototyping & production, flat and 3D part cutting, trimming, and hole piercing, versatile with various metals and thicknesses
- Welding & Assembly: Spot welding for Ultra High Strength Steel & press-hardened parts, highly automated robotic cells for precision and efficiency, focused on quality, speed, and cost reduction
Responsibilities
- Maintains a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies/procedures.
- Plans and assigns work to safely meet quality, production, and delivery goals.
- Coordinates manufacturing activities with the Materials Department to ensure production of quality products.
- Ensures compliance to all company policies and practices.
- Establishes clear expectations and holds employees accountable.
- Recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, quality, and operating procedures.
- Participates, drives, and implements continuous improvement on an ongoing basis.
- Keeps work area clean and well organized in a 5S manner.
- Develops, coaches, and trains both new and current employees.
- Demonstrates equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees or assigns experienced employees to train workers.
- Communicates with employees, keeping them informed of issues and progress.
- Promotes and maintains a positive team environment.
- Ensures quality in the workplace by participating in Quality meetings/initiatives.
- Inspects materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
- Inspects finished goods for uniformity and compliance with specifications.
- Conducts LPAs and other audits as assigned.
- Performs employee evaluations as scheduled while providing constructive feedback on an ongoing basis.
- Maintains continual learning of professional and technical knowledge by attending educational/training workshops.
- Monitors and maintains acceptable staffing requirements/levels.
- Maintains records and logs in Plex.
- Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
What You’ll Do

- Collaborate with materials and other departments to support production flow.
- Train, coach, and develop employees to build a strong, engaged team.
- Communicate clearly with team members on goals, expectations, and performance.
- Monitor product quality and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and help implement solutions.
- Conduct audits (including LPAs) and support quality initiatives.
- Perform employee evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
- Maintain accurate production records and reports in Plex.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (automotive preferred).
- 1–3 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead teams and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Skills
- Knowledge of machining and press operation.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; excellent planning and resource allocation skills.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands or arms, and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to walk.
- Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Must regularly lift and/or move 25 pounds, and occasionally push and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.
- Regularly works near moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
- Surrounded by machinery that often becomes very hot, which may lead to an uncomfortably warm environment.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually quiet but can be loud at times.
