About the Role
Responsible for all mixing, baking, forming, and packaging activities to safely produce quality products with efficient use of labor and materials on scheduled shifts and lines.
Responsibilities
- Supervise a team of 20–80 employees per shift, including direction, coordination, and evaluation. Directly supervise non-supervisory (lead) employees.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities per organizational policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining, and resolving issues.
- Maintain working knowledge of SQF, GMP policies, SAP processes, OSHA/MiOSHA regulations, HFS HPS/LEAN tools, and Microsoft Office.
- Direct the conversion of raw materials to finished products with minimal waste and labor cost.
- Control raw material formula consistency and monitor proper inventory rotation of raw materials and packaging.
- Maintain a 5S environment and schedule, maintain, and approve production employees’ work hours daily. Investigate scheduling or payroll-related issues with employees.
- Comply with customer service and company standards.
- Review production orders or schedules to plan operations based on product types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates.
- Plan production operations, establish priorities, and sequence manufacturing activities.
- Review production and operating reports to resolve operational, manufacturing, or maintenance problems, ensuring minimum costs and preventing delays.
- Inspect machines and equipment to ensure operational performance and optimum utilization.
- Resolve employee complaints or escalate unsettled issues to the Employee & Community Relations Manager. Handle disciplinary actions and disputes.
- Train, develop, and evaluate employees to meet future needs.
- Attend meetings and make presentations as needed.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and comply with all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Adhere to all company rules, regulations, and policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledge of procurement, products, and production processes.
- Experience with SAP and well-developed influence management skills.
- Experience in conflict resolution and prioritizing work based on short- and long-term objectives.
- Ability to analyze and present data to multiple levels of the organization.
- Project management skills, including contract review and tracking.
- Effective presentation, writing, proposal development, business planning, and SOP creation.
- Leadership in strategic goal implementation, budget/cost control, and personnel/performance management.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Work in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions.
- Communicate in English to give and acknowledge instructions or problems.
- Read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Respond to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, employees, and the business community.
- Present information effectively to employees, management, and public groups.
- Teach basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) in various units of measure.
- Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and SAP.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to use hands and fingers, with reaching throughout the shift.
- Ability to see, hear, and talk, including color distinction.
- Work in light to moderate noise levels where hearing protection is required.
- Work near moving mechanical parts, exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and vibration.
- Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity for repetitive tasks.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs and push/pull items up to 2600 lbs with assistance.
- Walk up to 400 yards to work and break areas.
- Climb steps to and from work and break areas.
- Repetitive reaching overhead, under, and across throughout the shift.
- Repetitive bending, stooping, and twisting throughout the shift.
- Stand for eight hours per shift.
- Physical and mental ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week.
- Perform general housekeeping, including sweeping and mopping.
- Work in variable temperatures, weather conditions, wet, and humid areas.
Qualifications
- Two-year college degree in business preferred.
- 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, with bakery or food/beverage experience a plus.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is beneficial.
- Proficiency in Kronos timekeeping system and SAP is a plus.
- Excellent communication, conflict management, decision-making, motivational, and organizational skills.
- Strong self-confidence and leadership skills.
- Basic mechanical skills.
- Ability to work a designated shift schedule, including every other weekend rotation.
