About the Role

We are looking for a Production Supervisor to join our team at the Shelbyville, TN plant, reporting directly to the Production Manager. This role is key to elevating our manufacturing operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and team development on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate production schedules to plan manpower and meet production needs.
  • Review production processes and implement countermeasures to meet demands.
  • Organize and direct manufacturing staff, ensuring adherence to process procedures.
  • Supervise workflow and monitor production quality.
  • Manage shop floor operations, including developing Line Leads and instructing hourly workers.
  • Monitor, record, and report production data (e.g., production output, scrap cost, overtime cost, first runs).
  • Create cross-training plans and maintain training records for hourly team members.
  • Monitor and maintain Time and Attendance records daily.
  • Troubleshoot daily quality, safety, and production issues.
  • Communicate work needs with other departments (Maintenance, Engineering, Tooling, MIS, Production Control, etc.).
  • Manage established PBM goals for quality, cost, delivery, safety, and morale.
  • Evaluate customer returns and present findings in weekly quality meetings.
  • Supervise 3S/5S conditions and activities.
  • Monitor inventory to meet shipping requirements.
  • Maintain a union-free environment.
  • Communicate frequently with internal and external contacts on various issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Intermediate to advanced experience with computer applications such as Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, PowerPoint, and other presentation software.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline with 0–2 years of experience in a related field, or
  • Associate’s Degree with a minimum of 2 years of supervisory/leadership experience, or
  • Non-degreed with a minimum of 4 years of supervisory/leadership experience (external candidates), or
  • Non-degreed with 1 year of employment at Marelli North America and a minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in manufacturing (internal candidates; time spent as a Lead or Production Specialist counts toward this requirement).

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with integrated computer programs or applications.
  • Strong communication, administrative, and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects.
  • Ability to pass all background checks, pre-employment tests (including drug tests), and maintain confidentiality.
