Production Sr Technician (Conversion)
About the Role
Sets up and operates automatic or semi-automatic machines and related equipment in a continuous production/processing operation. Monitors meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures, and related controls to ensure adherence to production/process specifications. Reports any malfunctions or abnormalities and makes minor adjustments and repairs to equipment. Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Requires working knowledge and skills to perform a defined set of analytical, scientific, or operational processes. Applies experience and skills to complete assigned work within own area of expertise, working within standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods with a moderate degree of supervision.
Responsibilities
- Sets up and operates production equipment to manufacture, process, and assemble various commercial products and substances.
- Uses product specifications, blueprints, diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOP) to produce products.
- Monitors output for quality and conformance to required metrics.
- Prepares and maintains required records of production activities and reports any inconsistencies or equipment issues.
- Follows established guidelines for safe material handling and protective gear.
- Studies and records time, motion, methods, and speed to improve efficiency.
- Establishes a standard production rate in performance of maintenance, production, clerical, and other worker operations.
- Troubleshoots issues related to manufacturing operations and industrial layout.
Requirements
- Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 2-5 years' experience OR equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in a technical discipline/major preferred.
- Technical expertise and ability to identify and seek needed information.
- Research and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with machine operation, machine programming, manufacturing, numerical control, precision measurement, quality inspection, reading blueprints/diagrams, safety policies and procedures, record keeping, and standard operating procedures (SOP).
Physical Requirements
- Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
- May need to stand for long periods of time.
- Work may require exposure to changing climate conditions and/or operating machinery, both inside and outside.
- May be requested to work a different shift or outside normal business hours as required.
- This position is safety-sensitive.
